For all you muesli-munching fans like myself, I’ve got great news for you!
A friend of mine (who is a chef at De Compagnon) started a company with a couple of friends in… yes, MUESLI.
It is packed with lots of ingredients that are super good for you like goji berries, pumpkin seeds, almonds, coconut shavings, oats and barley. And the great thing is, it’s 100% organic, full of fibres and it has no added sugars.

Now look at that, doesn’t it look delicious? I picked up a pack at Pure Markt about a week ago and I have to say my breakfast is now my favourite meal of the day! You can easily add some fresh fruits if you like. I threw in some pomegranate seeds this morning. (I think I made my friend Jenn proud!)

You can buy the muesli by dropping a line on their Facebook page. They deliver twice a month in Amsterdam on set times and dates. The first one up is Monday the 23rd. You can either order a refill pack or have them deliver the muesli in one of these nice jars.

If you have any muesli-fanatic relatives or friends, then this would make a really nice Christmas gift as well.
Not home on the 23rd?
No problem, the friendly boys will also be selling their stuff at the Winter Warehouse Market at Roest this saturday. See you there!

Last year a new Christmas market popped up in Amsterdam at Amstelveldje: the Sissy-Boy Christmas Flea Market. With truck loads of cool, vintage and new stuff arriving in the early waking morning, this market has something for everyone. You can get last minutes ornaments for your Christmas tree, antiques, scarves, hats, vintage finds by Sissy-Boy, you name it. And of course a lot of shops will be selling their stuff as well, like Trash To Treasure, Topanga Feathers, Ace & Tate, Six and Sons and Deus. You definitely don’t want to miss out on this day that will likely end with a group of fun people chatting away in the evening sun with some Gluhwein! See you Saturday!

Christmas is almost upon us. Hot chocolate, mum’s Christmas cake, a cozy fire to sit around, a huge Christmas tree with lighting and Christmas balls and of course presents. Cause there is nothing better than buying presents for your loved ones. But in case you are out of ideas or just want some inspiration for what to put under the Christmas tree, here are some of our favourites for this year. And yes, we’ve added some great gifts for in-laws too.

A nice weekender for your man which you can get at UNDSCVRD.

You can never go wrong with a subscription for a cool magazine. Try Monocle, men love it!

An Edwin Jagger shaving set with the old-fashioned razor. If you live in Amsterdam, you can get a set at Davidoff of Geneva on the Van Baerlestraat. They are really friendly and will explain everything you need to know about different razors… You can also buy them online at ManAndShaving.

Or you can go the easy way and take him to The Barber  Shop. In concept store Hutspot they also have a stand where he only has to sit down and be shaved, while you go and buy him (or yourself) a gift and enjoy a cup of coffee!

Hopefully this gives you some ideas for great Christmas gifts! And if you have any cool additions for us, let us know and we’ll add them to the list!

For as long as I can remember, there is something magical about Sundays. Growing up, we had the smell of my dad’s famous eggs & bacon and classical music filling up the house and when I was in college, we used to watch MTV’s weekend break all day long while enjoying hangover food. These days, my favourite way to spend my Sunday is by having brunch.

Thankfully, I am not alone in my brunch obsession. The brunch trend has found its way all the way from across the ocean to our little country and brunch locations are popping up like crazy. I have therefore selected my top 3 favourite brunch places:

Bluespoon serves you Sunday Brunch with a capital S and a capital B.

If you choose to go for the full package, be prepared because it not only includes the breakfast buffet with homemade bread, cheese, salads fruit and juices but also an a-la-carte item and the incredibly rich (and when I say rich, I mean rich) dessert buffet. The latter alone makes Bluespoon first in class.

Bluespoon (Hotel Andaz), Prinsengracht 587, Amsterdam.

This latest addition to Amsterdam is an all American one, including mimosa’s.

Staring 1

Their menu is full of choices like Tree Hugger or The All Rounder which made me instantly smile. Staring at Jacob gets bonus points for offering a lighter and more healthier version and brunch easily turns into afternoon drinks here.

Staring 2

Staring at Jacob, Jacob van Lennepkade 215, Amsterdam.‎

3) G’S

Something that was once called “G&T’s really really nice place” can’t be anything other than really really nice.  The T in G&T has left the building (and, funny enough, is now the owner of this list’s number 2) but G’s remains amazing.

Gs 1

Each Sunday, G’s is hosting a ‘not-so-secret love affair with brunch’, where you can enjoy lots of goodies in a comfy location. Don’t forget to have one of the best bloody mary’s in town and even consider to make it, as G’s suggests, slutty with an oyster on top!

Gs 2

G’s, Goudsbloemstraat 91, Amsterdam.

My sister and I went out for a day of shopping. We strolled around town and both had a mission: a winter coat and shoes for me and my sister was dying to get some leather leggings. Needless to say we worked up an appetite!
I was well prepared by making a reservation at all-time favourite lunch place: Gartine.
It is hidden away in an alley just off shopping street the Kalverstraat. Gartine has been around for a while and if you haven’t been there yet: it’s a must!

Gartine is run by Willem-Jan and Kirsten and their love for food is portrayed in every single thing they make. They are only open from Wednesday until Sunday for breakfast, lunch and high-tea. On Monday and Tuesday they work at their very own kitchen garden. It was their dream to own a garden where they could plant vegetables, fruits, potatoes and herbs. Everything you eat at Gartine  is home grown so it’s all super fresh and incredibly delicious!

I went for the sandwich with egg, saffron mayonnaise and roasted pumpkin.

My sister chose the mascarpone and goat’s cheese sandwich with some roasted pumpkin on the side. I can’t tell you how delicious it all was. Honestly, enjoyed every single bite, it’s just that good.

And as you can never leave without dessert, we opted for a chocolate cake made in heaven and a delicious pear cake. It was devoured in a matter of minutes.

As I am pretty sure you will want to visit this place, here’s their phone number: 020-3204132. Give ’em a call!
The food is so incredible and the owners are absolutely lovely. They will make your day!
