Located at Hugo de Grootplein, this latest edition to Amsterdam’s hotlist has it all: exquisite food, nice crowd and great atmosphere. Did I mention the food already?
Because that’s something which absolutely stands out: you can choose from quite a range of dishes and pick the small or larger version. Luckily, us millennials are used to making lots of choices plus the good thing is you can never go wrong here at Hugo’s.
We started off with some homemade bread and eggplant caviar, then shared a salad with brussels sprouts and shrimps, guinea fowl with couscous, figs and hazelnuts and a tartare of scallops. All gone in no time, that good!
And no perfect dinner without dessert. We went for, what’s called, the ‘After Dinner Dip’, and since this one is all about chocolate, sharing was out of the question. This is the kind of dessert which instantly makes you smile and think about those days when you were helping out your mom baking goodies, when actually all you did was lick the spoon! See for yourself:
Hugo’s is not only worth a visit for the food, it offers a cozy place to have (outstanding) cocktails and, bonus, they serve brunch every Saturday and Sunday!
